I've been thinking about lowering my 10-meter Yagi tower down and putting up an HF vertical on it instead. The place below makes a few decent ones, but they are a little pricey. I bet they would work great though. The guy makes the model below with a 5kW matching transformer (balun). http://www.zerofive-antennas.com/pr...0-80-meter-freestanding-vertical-antenna-unun The reason I’m thinking about doing this it because verticals will work much beter on 40 and 80-meters at night for the coast-to-coast long haul stuff. My current cloud-burner dipole just isn’t going to cut it except for working a few states away and maybe certain parts of the Midwest during nights when the band is very very long. .
