You know, with all the recent events about the Media and Trump, etc. none of it is really that surprising. Most of the time the Media or the news organizations in general are simply just biased and full of shit. I'm not saying Trump is right, but if you look at what's happened over the past 3 decades along with the fact they had this last election outcome so wrong due to their bias it shouldn't surprise anyone. It all started back in 1980 when CNN came on the scene and turned the 3 main network news organizations upside down. Before that those 3 main networks were pretty decent and they always made sure the news they broadcasted and reported was accurate. If they made a mistake they would admit it in an instant and correct that mistake. That is no longer the case and the days of credible people like Walter Cronkite for example are long gone. If you think about it, that was back before CNN, the Internet, and basically before any real-time news reporting capability. When CNN began and started changing the way the game was played big corporations swooped in and took control of the networks and those news organizations. They slowly turned those new organizations into a business and ratings started becoming more important than being non-biased and accurate. It's now nothing more than entertainment. So as a result what we have today is a Media that is more concerned about ratings and beating out the other guy. Forget the fact they are often so biased they report news based on that bias. They now often make themselves and much of the public believe in something for a long while which results in getting a presidential election completely wrong for example. Much of the time what they report is either made up news or they take part of a real news story, twist it around, and just turn it into something else more exciting. The bottom line is we can no longer believe about 75% of what we watch and hear today on TV from any of the news organizations. We especially cannot believe what we read and hear about on the Internet. Probably around 90% of what we get from the web is complete B.S. so it's even worse. People just make stuff up here on the Internet and it's mostly all opinion. Anyway, I think the point and what has been lost is the Media's credibility. The Media no longer has any credibility left or it has been severely damaged to say the very least and is possibly beyond repair. The way I see it we can no longer trust and believe what we are told. Before 1980, news organizations had time to pick and prepare what they reported on to insure they were legitimate and worthwhile news stories because those events had already happened earlier in the day, etc. There wasn't the pressure of real-time reporting then so now they just report everything that happens on the spot whether it's valid or not and make stuff up in the process. .
